FAQs
Q:
I’ve already got some processes in place for collecting surplus lines policy information, fees, and taxes for my state. Why would I want to use SLIP and RAPID?
A:
Augmenting your systems with SLIP and RAPID provides many benefits to existing operations. SLIP and RAPID efficiently automate some of the tasks performed by surplus lines regulators and/or stamping offices, as well as agents and insurers who have to submit regulatory information. SLIP and RAPID can reduce staff workload, eliminate manual or duplicate data entry, drastically reduce errors, and provide a thorough auditing process. SLIP and RAPID can increase the amount of fees and taxes collected by your office by enforcing full compliance and preventing unearned credits or refunds. In short, your operations run more efficiently, generate more accurate and comprehensive regulatory data, and collect all required fees and taxes.
Q:
How much do SLIP and RAPID cost?
A:
SLIP and RAPID software is free. Your agency or association pays Infinity for configuration, data migration, support, training, and other services as needed. These costs vary based on your organization’s unique needs. Please contact us to discuss the available alternatives, including the option of paying nothing until fees and taxes are collected.
Q:
Do I have to install software or equipment in my office?
A:
No. SLIP and RAPID are entirely Web-based, so there is no software (aside from a Web browser) for you or agents to install. The servers for SLIP and RAPID can be hosted at Infinity’s secure data center facilities, or you can house the websites and data on your own equipment if you prefer.
Q:
How can SLIP and RAPID accommodate the unique needs of my state or association?
A:
SLIP and RAPID can be customized to meet your specific requirements. They are also scalable and can be used with any size regulatory operation.
Q:
How long does it take to get these systems up and running?
A:
The time required for configuration, training, and getting agents/insurers prepared varies based on your needs, but SLIP and RAPID can be in place as quickly as 3 months.
Q:
Our state requires signed/notarized documents such as affidavits. Can SLIP and RAPID incorporate hardcopy documents like that?
A:
Yes. In our work with the Mississippi Surplus Lines Association, we incorporated signed and notarized affidavits into the business processes that are automated by SLIP and RAPID.
Q:
Can RAPID work with my existing website, office management software, and databases?
A:
Yes. SLIP and RAPID are based on standard software programming tools, and Infinity can integrate SLIP and RAPID with other software.
Q:
I’m concerned about how agents and insurers will learn how to use SLIP, and that they may not want to use a new tool. What does the industry think about SLIP?
A:
SLIP has been very well received by agents and insurers. In a 2009 survey, the tool received a 98% satisfaction rating from agents and insurers.
Q:
How will my staff and industry users learn how to use SLIP and RAPID?
A:
Infinity will provide on-site, Web-based, and telephone-based training and support to stamping offices, associations, or other regulators who are using SLIP and RAPID. Additionally, our implementation process includes agent and insurer training, on-line help files, and video demonstrations of the software.
